As a Way Maker on the Serve Team or a Way Group Leader, you are a servant leader of this church. You have a responsibility to lead by example in behavior and in speech that honors Jesus and others.

The way we live plays a vital role in the way others perceive Christ. Many times someone’s entire perception of a group can come from one person’s actions or words. So we strive to make sure our actions and words align with the heart of Jesus.

Leaders in Way Church should seek to look a little more like Jesus each day. We do this through participating in spiritual disciplines like reading scripture, prayer, fasting…etc. But we also do this by refraining from things like:

• Gossip, unwholesome talk or conversations, coarse joking or teasing

• Drunkenness

• Sexual immorality

• Illegal activity

• Disunity or dishonesty

• All other behaviors that might cause others to stumble or Christ to be grieved.

When we live as an example to others in our behavior and speech, not only are we more effective witnesses to others, we also encourage others to become servant leaders and examples themselves.

We do not see this code as a restriction but rather a huge opportunity to grow as followers of Jesus and as leaders. However, in the case of a breach of this honor code, we retain the right to ask a Way Maker or Way Group Leader to take a step back from leading at Way Church if we deem necessary both for the perseveration of our church culture and for the health of that Individual.
